After the impressive first season of Netflix's The Witcher adaption, the cast and crew prepared for production to start for season 2. Of course, the coronavirus pandemic came about, sending countries worldwide into lockdown. Those working on The Witcher were unable to travel and be near one another for months so production was held off. However, the series is due to start production again, very soon.In a tweet, worded in Jaskier song fashion, it's announced that the series is now re-entering production on August 17, 2020. Of course, we had speculated that production was to resume after Arborfield Studios announced that it would be reopening as lockdown measures start to become more lenient in the UK. The London based studio is responsible for the filming and production of Netflix's The Witcher series.

The first series was a massive success for Netflix and was on track to becoming the biggest season one series ever. Around the time it launched onto the streaming platform, the game surged in popularity along with it, seeing it hit an all-new concurrent player count on Steam, higher than the last spike in 2015. Even the books saw an increase in demand, resulting in the publisher printing an additional 500,000 copies. And then in May, we learned that the entire Witcher franchise from CD Projekt Red has sold over 50 million units.

Hopefully, production on The Witcher goes ahead nicely and we'll be seeing the next season heading to Netflix in the coming year or two. There is also an animated movie in the works The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf planned to arrive on Netflix too.
