Work on The Witcher Season 2 Seems to be Starting Up

Following a largely successful release, Season 2 of The Witcher now seems to be entering the pre-production stages.

After its incredibly successful release last month, it seems as though initial work on the future of Netflix’s The Witcher series is now beginning.

As seen in a new tweet from The Witcher’s showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, it seems as though the first stages of work on the next season of the show has started. “Leaving my family in Los Angeles continues to be the hardest thing I do. But here I am. Doing it again, with all their love and support to back me up,” Hissrich said in her tweet. “Onto [The Witcher Season 2]!”

Based on usual timelines with TV shows, this likely means that Hissrich and the rest of the team behind The Witcher are currently in the pre-production phase of Season 2. The actual production stage, which would include filming, likely won’t start for a few more weeks or months at this point.

For now, there’s not a whole lot that we know about Season 2 of The Witcher. Netflix renewed the series for a second season in November 2019, a month before the show released, clearly showing that they had a lot of confidence in the product. All that we really know is that the show is set to film Season 2 throughout 2020 before eventually releasing in 2021. We also currently don’t have an idea as to what point in 2021 that the new season could arrive as of this writing.

Regardless of when the second season of The Witcher drops, however, if it’s anything like this premier season, it seems as though it should be a fan pleaser. While reviews for the show have been somewhat mixed, we largely found it to be enjoyable, especially for those who already are familiar with the novels.

In the meantime, while we wait for Season 2 to arrive, be sure to toss a coin to your witcher if you haven’t already done so.
