While many who enjoy The Witcher series of video games are likely tangentially interested in the upcoming Netflix show, it seems as though the latter won't be, at any point, much related to the games.

When speaking to The Wrap recently at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, The Witcher's showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich talked about the upcoming series and if it'll ever pull anything from the video games. Hissrich said that even assuming the show goes on for multiple seasons, this will never be the case.

“Extreme long vision is no, we will not start adapting the games,” Hissrich said plainly. “I can only attack one season at a time, I’m so excited for this one, the rest kind of makes my mind explode right now. If someone says ‘what happens in Season 7,’ sure I have thoughts. Fingers crossed, we get there.”

While The Witcher series of games have obviously pulled directly from the novels as well as the main source material, they have differed at times over the course of the franchise's three main installments. As such, many who have played the games might not know or understand everything in the same way in which they transpire within the novels.

In other news on Netflix's The Witcher, the first official trailer for the show finally appeared this past weekend as well. Season one of the series is still set to arrive at some point later this year with a specific window still not having been divulged. We'll continue to let you know more about this show as more information continues to come about.
