Season 2 of Netflix's The Witcher has started production, aiming for a release in 2021, but there's more Witcher-related content on the horizon. Redanian Intelligence has reported that a new sighting on the Writers Guild of America indicates that we could be getting a film to help numb the wait for the second season.

The WGA entry shows The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf as a film project, with the screenplay written by Beau DeMayo. For those who don't know, DeMayo wrote the third episode of The Witcher which was titled "Betrayer Moon" where Geralt tracks down a Striga. DeMayo was also a co-producer for the series' "Much More" and "The End's Beginning", and on WGA it shows that he's employed for work on the series in 2020.

Going by the title of the film, and by the dark tone of the third episode, I suspect we'll be seeing a dark film, although I'd hope the comedic quirks from the series remain somewhat.

Redanian Intelligence calls back some rumors that circulated a while back about a potential animated tie-in project, so at current, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is being assumed to be an animated film. The website also speculates that Henry Cavill could be voicing the protagonist in the film as he was "notably absent" from most of the shows promotional events, leading to the assumption he could have been in the studio recording his lines.

The Witcher has been widely successful as the release saw the game hit a new all-time high concurrent player count. There's not much else known about The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf but I'd welcome more Witcher content with open arms. Just pile it all on my desk. Thank you.
