After a long wait, Season 2 of The Witcher is finally close to its official release on Netflix, and here's everything you need to know about the show's release schedule.

Created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's books and CD Projekt Red's video games of the same name. The show explores the journey of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan), and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) in the fictional land of "The Continent."

Netflix released the first season of The Witcher in December 2019 with eight episodes. Thanks to the fantastic performance from the cast and the captivating story, the show broke all records on the platform. Well, it's safe to say that Season 2 will even surpass the first season in terms of quality and viewership.

Interestingly, critics are giving great reviews for the second season, and that's why it is already sitting at a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes. And now, it's almost time for the audience to witness the brilliance of Season 2.

Season 2 of The Witcher is scheduled to release on Friday, December 17th, 2021, at 12:00 AM PST (Pacific Time).

How Many Episodes Are There in Season 2 of The Witcher?

Netflix confirmed that similar to Season 1, the second season of The Witcher will feature eight episodes. Each episode in the first season had a runtime of around 55-60 minutes, so it's safe to say that Season 2 will also follow a similar trend.

Also, Netflix will follow its tradition and drop all eight episodes of The Witcher Season 2 at once on December 17th. So, you'll get an entire weekend to complete the whole season.

What's the Plot of The Witcher Season 2?

Interestingly, the first episode of Season 2 is titled "A Grain of Truth." The episode will feature Geralt and Ciri taking a shorter path and running into a place that doesn't feel safe. There, Geralt will meet Nivellen and learn about the beast's backstory.

The first season concluded with Geralt meeting Ciri in the forest. Well, in the second season, Geralt will take Ciri to the safest place he knows, "Kaer Morhen." Interestingly, that's the place where Ciri will train under the guidance of Geralt and Vesemir in the second episode, titled Kaer Morhen."

According to some early reviews, the Second Season of The Witcher will not feature time jumps. The story will focus more on Geralt protecting Ciri from the dangers of the world while also preparing her for the upcoming fight.
