This Day in Gaming History: Grand Theft Auto III

on October 22, 2014 3:27 PM

Welcome to the latest installment of This Day in Gaming History! In this segment, we take a nostalgic look back at some of our favorite (or not so favorite) gaming titles and say, Happy Birthday! We also want to know what your best and sometimes worst memories of the title were.

13 years ago today,  Grand Theft Auto III was released by Rockstar Games for Playstation 2.  It was the first time the GTA series was introduced to the very open, 3D world.  You play the story as a bank robber named Claude, who gets tied up into a whirl of crime, corruption and chaos.  Grand Theft Auto III never gave us a dull moment; whether it was stealing cars, shooting hookers or casually driving around Liberty City just to listen to those hilarious radio stations.  GTA III may have caused a lot of controversy, but it also sparked influence within the industry and continues to play an important role in gaming.

What one thing did you absolutely love about Grand Theft Auto III? What one thing did you dislike about Grand Theft Auto III?
