NCSoft announced recently that the veteran MMORPG City of Heroes will soon be closed, but superheroes, as we all know, are a stubborn bunch, and rarely allow themselves to go down without a fight.

A couple of days ago over 3,000 City of Heroes players rallied in Atlas Park filling up 32 instances and donning their virtual capes to show NCSoft that the community isn't exactly pleased with the closure decision.

While the demonstration was absolutely peaceful and the crowd was asked not to use emotes that expressed displeasure or protest, it's obvious that NCSoft's decision made a lot of people quite unhappy.

In the meanwhile the online petition to save the game has almost reached the 17,000 signatures mark. Will NCSoft reconsider? We still don't know, but you can check a video of the caped rally below, courtesy of Youtube user Leandro Pardini. That's quite a lot of masked people, all right.
