Things seem to be heating up for THQ Nordic ahead of its release of the hugely anticipated post-apocalyptic adventure Darksiders III later this year. The publisher has announced that it has recently picked up the rights for classics Timesplitters and Second Sight.

TimeSplitters was originally released in 2000 from British development team Free Radical Design for PlayStation 2 and is fondly remembered by fans of the series. The fast-paced multiplayer shooter featured a lighthearted comedic take on the genre through a wealth of charming characters and rapid-fire weapons. It also saw a number of popular sequels released. The news that THQ Nordic is now at the franchise's helm means that there is a chance that we could see future installments of the TimeSplitters series or see the older games re-released or remastered for modern consoles.

Along with TimeSplitters now being part of THQ Nordic's umbrella, the rights for the BAFTA award-winning Second Sight have also been acquired. This stealth sci-fi title originally made its way to PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and PC back in 2004.

THQ Nordic has not yet stated what its intentions are with the newly acquired properties. However, while we're waiting we can enjoy Darksiders III when it hits Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 27 this year. The game will also be featured at Gamescom 2018 this weekend.
