Three new NES titles will be added to Nintendo Switch Online members on October 10, 2018. They are: NES Open Tournament Golf, Solomon’s Key, and Super Dodge Ball. Each game will have online multiplayer for those that allow for more than one player.
NES Open Tournament Golf was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System on September 29, 1991. A Famicom Disk System version released earlier in Japan in 1987. This is the predecessor to the Mario Golf games and features Mario and Luigi as playable characters as you golf across three different courses. Princesses Peach and Daisy appear as caddies and Donkey Kong is now an accountant.
Solomon’s Key is a puzzle game released for the NES in July of 1987 by Tecmo. It appeared on almost every system at the time and has since been re-released on every Virtual Console iteration and the PlayStation 4 as an Arcade Archives release.
Super Dodge Ball is a sports title released in July of 1989 for the NES from Technos Japan Corp. It based on the arcade game of the same name, and includes a battle royale “bean ball” mode where six players from Team USA fight until only one remains. It features ten teams all with named players.
Currently November’s offerings include Metroid, Mighty Bomb Jack, and Twinbee. Nintendo Switch Online costs $19.99 for 12 months and subscribers will also be able to purchase special NES joy-cons that only work with the NES titles offered by the service.
