After nearly ten years away from the medium, the iconic reporter Tintin is set to make his return to the realm of video games.

In a new announcement today, publisher Microids has now announced that it is collaborating to Moulinsart to develop a new video game based on Tintin, the worldwide best-selling comic series. Microids has previously worked on titles like Blacksad, the Syberia trilogy, and more recently is also planning to publish the upcoming remake of XIII.

Here's a description of the Tintin game Microids is looking to make:

This new action-adventure game will transport the player into a whirlwind of incredible situations and suspense hand in hand with the legendary Tintin and Snowy characters. Other iconic characters will join the cast like the renowned captain Haddock, fond of fine whiskey and sophisticated slurs, the genius professor Calculus and the finest detectives Thomson & Thompson.

After navigating all seas, exploring numerous continents, doing some deep sea diving in a submarine and even walking on the Moon, the most famous reporter is ready for some brand new interactive adventures.

"This really is a dream come true for us," said Stéphane Longeard, the CEO of Microids. "The adventures of Tintin transported millions of readers worldwide and this opportunity will allow us to put our talents at the service of one of the biggest creators of the 20th century and its inked hero: Our team members are fans of the famous reporter and will do their best to pay this franchise a vibrant homage. We can’t wait to kick-off this project!"

A release window for this new Tintin project hasn't been given just yet and specific platforms haven't been divulged yet, either. All we currently know is that Microids plans to bring the final product to both PC and consoles.

Unfortunately, no trailers or gameplay footage from this Tintin game have been released today, either, meaning we'll have to wait until further down the road to see how it's shaping up.
