To the Moon Finally Arrives on Nintendo Switch in January
To the Moon has been completely remade in Unity and will be released for Nintendo Switch on January 16, 2020.
Back in March, XD Network confirmed that they were remaking Freebird Games’ To the Moon, an RPG Maker classic for PC, in Unity so it could be released on Nintendo Switch. While it missed a Summer 2019 release window and we have not heard much about this version of the game since then, XD Network confirmed during Tokyo Game Show that the Nintendo Switch version of To the Moon will be launching on January 16, 2020. You can check out the funny trailer that reveals this release date below:
Right now, that week of January is pretty quiet in terms of game releases outside of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore on January 17. To the Moon is considered a classic, so I’m sure its Switch release will draw a lot of attention once that date rolls around. As I mentioned, fans of the original may want to keep their eye on this Switch version as the whole game had to be remade in Unity to come to the hybrid console.
As such, To the Moon for Nintendo Switch technically has completely remade visuals, though XD Network has not changed much about the game’s style. When it comes to content, To the Moon will be exactly the same as the PC release. The game’s story is amazing, so I’m glad to see they aren’t tampering with much other than the engine with this port. I also can’t wait to see it adapted into an animated movie.
