Nintendo has made its first playable DLC character, Toad, available for free for Super Mario Run, which releases for iOS devices today.

A My Nintendo account will be required in order to redeem the download. A quick look at other "rewards" up for grabs include coins, rally tickets, flower patches, blocks, and a Gold Mario statue, although all of these will require platinum points in order to obtain.

It was revealed just a few days ago that the newest mobile game from Nintendo does require an internet connection to play, but for good reason: to prevent piracy. Despite this, research firm SuperData said in a note this week that it expects Super Mario Run to reach 30 million downloads (and rack up $60 million) in its first month on the market.

Although expected revenue during its first month is well below what Pokémon GO accrued ($200 million), Super Mario Run has yet to release for Android devices. The game has been confirmed, however, to be coming to the platform sometime in the future.
