This year has been an aberration in terms of premium gaming shows. Some have been outright canceled, while others have been delayed in favor of airing in a different format. Among the latter group is the Tokyo Game Show, which was canceled earlier this year and replaced by an online-only event. Now, we have some more concrete information on the dates for the new Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online.

Announced via a press release from the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association, TGS2020 Online will be taking place from Wednesday, September 23 to Sunday, September 27. Viewers will be able to watch the event unfold on the official TGS Twitch channel or on other streaming and video platforms.

In the past, the Tokyo Game Show has been a host to numerous AAA titles and announcements. Last year's show gave viewers and attendees exclusive looks at Death StrandingNioh 2Code Vein and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Suffice to say, it's a big show with big announcements. Even with its shift to an online-only format, I would expect to see the same amount of content coming from the show, if not more.

Specifically, viewers should be looking forward to news from the biggest Japanese game developers, such as Konami or Falcom. It's also fair to expect some next-gen announcements, considering how close the show will be to the release dates of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Personally, I'm hoping for something out of left-field - an announcement from Level-5. No, not for another Yo-Kai Watch game, but for Dark Cloud 3. Here's hoping.
