Tomb Raider was one of the most celebrated titles of last year. Although it initially didn’t do as well as parent company Square-Enix had hoped, the game eventually went on to sell millions of copies and become profitable. The good news just keeps coming and at what better time than its one year anniversary? By the end of March, the title will have sold six million copies.
This news was posted on Tomb Raider‘s official Tumblr page by Head of Studios Darrell Gallagher who, among other things, had this to say:
By the end of this month we will surpass 6 million units for our Tomb Raider reboot, and, having achieved profitability back in 2013 Tomb Raider has exceeded profit expectations and continues to make significant contributions to our overall financial performance.
This is great news for a game that really is worthy of all the praised given to it. We can no doubt expect a sequel to Tomb Raider sometime in the future.
