Don't miss the special Genshin Impact stream by Tomoaki Maeno (Zhongli)

Seeing he finally managed to get a PS5, Tomoaki Maeno announced on Twitter he'll be using it to stream some Genshin impact.

Tomoaki Maeno: "The other day I finally won the PS5 lottery! so tomorrow, I'll try to stream Genshin Impact (so, on PS5). I haven't been to Inazuma yet, so I'll be discovering it on stream. Maybe I'll do some rolls too. I hope you'll stick around".

The stream is happening on YouTube at 7 AM EST.

In case you didn't know, all shops in Japan have a lottery system in place to be able to order a PS5. Moreover, it's usually only limited to longtime customers, with a membership. The PS5 shortage is worse there than in Europe and the United States. A lot of things work with lotteries in Japan, from buying a console to getting concert tickets. Needless to say, scalpers are also an issue.

More on Tomoaki Maeno

Tomoaki Maeno is one of the most popular seiyuu out there. He's the voice of, among others:

  • Ash Carbide in the Trails/Kiseki series
  • The current voice of Kyo Kusanagi in KOF
  • Squalo in the JoJo Part 5 anime

It's important to note several characters in Genshin Impact had their seiyuu picked from the start. Rather than going through auditions, miHoYo made some of the characters with a specific seiyuu in mind. Then they contacted said seiyuu's agencies to get them. Maeno explained so himself in his video interview for John Lee.

Tomoaki Maeno is also married to fellow seiyuu Mikako Komatsu, who isn't in Genshin Impact yet but will probably end up voicing a character at some point. They most notably voiced together Hiro Hayami and Ito Suzuno in Pretty Series and Pretty Rhythm. Maeno isn't the sole Genshin seiyuu streaming the game too, as others including Rie Tanaka (Lisa) did it soon after launch.
