Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Becomes Fastest Entry in Franchise to Reach 1 Million Copies Sold
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 has set a new sales record for the long-running series, which bodes well for the future.
Turns out, folks really like nostalgia, apparently.
Announced by Activision today, the recently released remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, which we loved here at DualShockers, has now sold over 1 million copies around the globe across all platforms. Considering that the return to form for the iconic skating series has only been out for about ten days, that’s a pretty darn good pace. So good, in fact, that Activision said THPS 1+2 now stands as the fastest-selling installment in the long-running series when it comes to reaching this 1 million threshold.

Obviously, the game’s early success, both critically and commercially, bodes well for the series in the future. Over the past few years, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater has been in a rough spot. After the dismal response to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, a game that many would like to pretend doesn’t even exist, it looks as though returning to the roots of the franchise here with THPS 1+2 was the right call. Whether or not Activision levies this newfound momentum in an entirely new entry in the series (much as it has done with Crash 4) or it chooses to continue remaking older installments remains to be seen.
Regardless, it looks as though Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is in the best spot the IP has been at in over a decade, which is great to see. If you’re still looking to pick up THPS 1+2, it’s currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC right this moment.
