Hawk himself announced today on Twitter that the game will definitely be released this summer, presumably on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. He has big plans in mind for the game and sees it eventually becoming an amalgam of everything great about the series. “I really want this to be a foundation we build on so we can do more levels, more skaters, more content that you can download,” he told Joystiq in an interview this past March.
A game like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD could possibly bring many players back to what is arguably now a floundering genre, due solely to its massive nostalgia factor. In fact, Activision has hinted in previous statements that sales of the game could determine how enthusiastically they move forward with additional downloadable content.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is a remake and combination of the first two THPS games and will be released on an unspecified date next month.
