Mat Piscatella, a member of the NPD Group, always gives us snippets of how games are selling for us analytic nerds out there. I am always fascinated to see the data behind the curtain, and this time around, Mat gave us a good one. Here are the top 10 selling games for PS4 and Xbox One ranked on dollar sales. It is also noted that digital game sales are included for all publishers on the lists with the exception of Bethesda, which is not currently a digital panel participant.PS4

  •  Grand Theft Auto V
  • Call of Duty: WWII
  • Call of Duty Black Ops III
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • NBA 2k18
  • Battlefield 1
  • God of War
  • Star Wars Battlefront
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  • Nba 2k17

Xbox One

  •  Grand Theft Auto V
  • Call of Duty: WWII
  • Call of Duty Black Ops III
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • Battlefield 1
  • Star Wars Battlefront
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  • Halo 5: Guardians
  • Destiny 2
  • Fallout 4

To the surprise of nobody, Grand Theft Auto V tops both lists and continues its historic dominance over video game sales. Rolling in after that are three Call of Duty titles in a row which is normally the top-selling game every single year. The rest of the list differs depending on which console you are looking at. What is a little surprising is to me is to see the incredible God of War sitting at number seven. With the PS4 selling over 80 million units, that certainly helps push an exclusive game up the charts. What might be even more surprising is that Fallout 4 cracked the top-selling games for Xbox One despite not taking into consideration digital game sales.

Hopefully we get another look at the top 10 once Q4 has ended. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 might continue to dominate the top ten due to the introduction of Blackout, but there is a little title called Red Dead Redemption 2 that might take the cake.
