Torment: Tides of Numenera Is a Go, Breaks Kickstarter Record for Games

Time to get the party started as Torment: Tides of Numenera ended its Kickstarter funding period with a big bang having gathered $4,188,927 in pledges from 74,405 backers. This also sets a new record for Kickstarter funding for games, overtaking the sum previously raised by Obsidian’s Project Eternity (the overall record for crowdfunding in games is still held by Star Citizen, as far as I know).

I have to admit that I personally felt that Kickstarter would have topped out and then declined pretty fast as more and more projects vied for the money of gamers, but projects keep coming and gamers keep giving, so I’m happy to see I was wrong.

So congraulations to inXile Entertainment, that is now the only game developer to make it big on Kickstarter twice in a row after raising $2,933,252 with Wasteland 2. Incidentally they also released a new piece of concept art of the male player character, that you can see above.
