Starting out its life as one of the “killer apps” of the Ouya system when it debuted, Matt Thorson’s popular indie action title Towerfall has since found life on other platforms with the release of Towerfall: Ascension, with the title’s release now officially confirmed and dated for Xbox One owners.
In a report from Eurogamer, Towerfall developer Matt Thorson announced that Towerfall: Ascension will release for Xbox One on January 25th, 2017, along with the game’s Dark World expansion on the same day.
The original version of Towerfall debuted on the Ouya in 2013, and since then the enhanced edition Towerfall: Ascension debuted a year later on PS4, PS Vita, PC, Mac, and Linux with a bevy of new content and features. Similar in design to something like Super Smash Bros., Towerfall has been praised for the game’s easy accessibility and addictive gameplay, where four players engage in arena-style combat and try to remain the last man standing by shooting arrows at one another.
Along with the new content and features from the Ascension version of the game, the Dark World expansion further expands on the original title by adding a four-player co-op story campaign, along with other new enhancements such as new power-ups, levels, bosses, and much more.
Towerfall: Ascension is available now for PS4, PS Vita, PC, Mac, and Linux, with the upcoming Xbox One version to release next week on January 25th, 2017.
