In late February at the Trackmania Grand Finals, Ubisoft Nadeo announced that they were hard at work on a remake of the classic racer Trackmania Nations. The PC-only title was set to launch on May 5, but, as you know, the world has changed a lot since then. Because of ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus, the team has decided to push back the release date for about two months. Now, Trackmania fans will get to enjoy the latest in their favorite franchise on July 1. It wasn't all bad news though. Ubisoft dropped a new gameplay trailer alongside the announcement. It's a fast-paced look at everything coming. Check it out below.

Obviously, it's a bit disappointing for Trackmania fans that the release date is being pushed. That said, given everything happening, the delay is certainly understandable. At the very least, fans still have an actual date and not the dreaded "indefinitely" tag. Even though you have to wait a bit longer, you still, in theory, know how long you're waiting for. Which is welcome in the ever-changing global situation.

It will be worth paying attention to how Trackmania's post-launch content plays out after this delay. The devs looked to be focused on pumping out tons of content for the fanbase to keep the scene alive well past the initial release. With everyone on the team now working from home, you have to wonder if the initial roll-out will be lesser than what they originally planned. Of course, all of that is speculation. It's very possible that the delay is letting them get better set up to produce that content from home.

Trackmania launches on PC July 1 via Uplay and the Epic Game Store. Hopefully, it captures the audience's hearts just like the original did back in 2006.
