In the genre of shoot 'em ups, Treasure and SEGA's Ikaruga has long been regarded as one of the genre's all-time classics, and now players new and old will have the chance to experience the title in console (and portable) form on the Nintendo Switch later this month.

Publisher Nicalis, Inc has announced that the classic shoot 'em up game Ikaruga will be coming to the Nintendo Switch eShop on May 29th, 2018 for $14.99. While the game's arrival on the system was previously teased, its upcoming release on Nintendo Switch will give a whole new generation of players a chance to play the title, though Nicalis did not confirm at this time if the game will release on other platforms at the moment.

The game itself on Nintendo Switch will support single-player and two-player local co-op, while also providing global leaderboards to keep track of online high scores against friends and other players. Additionally, the Switch version will feature support to either play in a traditional horizontal format, or vertically for the arcade-style mode of the game.

Nicalis also detailed that the game will feature two gameplay modes -- Arcade and Prototype (which limits the amounts of ammunition that players have compared to what they have absorbed from enemies), while also featuring three difficulty settings, chapter select, and more.

Ikaruga will release for the Nintendo Switch on May 29th, 2018. For more on the game, you can check out the newly-released trailer for the game's Switch release below:
