Square Enix published a new trailer for Trials of Mana, going over every gameplay system in the remake that was previously revealed. We have the party system and how you pick three out of six characters, the battle system and its new features like Chain Abilities, the Training Points, Class Change, and everything. We detailed all that, screenshots included, in a previous article. This means nothing shown in the trailer is truly new, besides the gameplay footage itself, but it's still great to watch when you're just as hyped for the game as I am.

The trailer is also accompanied by some of the OST rearrangements found in this remake, which sound pretty nice, especially the new version of Meridian Child. Original composer Hiroki Kikuta supervised the rearrangements. If the new OST doesn't fit your tastes, the original Snes BGMs can also be enabled via the game's options. You can read more details about Trials of Mana's OST through our past coverage about the OST's CD release. Samples are also available on Square Enix's official site.

Sadly, only an English dub version of the new Trials of Mana gameplay trailer is available, so if you're a weeb or if English isn't your first language, you'll have to put up with that for now. Not that the English cast isn't doing a good job from what we've heard so far, mind you. This is a pretty funny situation nonetheless as it's usually Japan who gets trailers and ton of promotion material that we don't.

As a reminder, this is a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3, released exclusively in Japan on Super Famicom (Snes) in 1995. Seiken Densetsu 3 is the follow-up to Seiken Densetsu 2, known as Secret of Mana outside Japan. Seiken Densetsu 3 was officially translated as Trials of Mana and released outside Japan for the first time during E3 2019 via Collection of Mana on Nintendo Switch. The remake is also named Trials of Mana in the west. In Japan, the remake is ingeniously titled Seiken Densetsu 3 Trials of Mana to differentiate it from the original Snes game. All of this should explain why Final Fantasy VII isn't the sole legendary Square RPG getting a remake this year.

Trials of Mana launches on April 24, 2020, on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. It was first announced at E3 2019 along with some live gameplay. A demo was also listed on the PlayStation Store but wasn't officially announced nor released yet. You can check out the past trailers, more artwork by Mana series artist Haccan and screenshots here and here. You can also take a look at our preview.

You can preorder Trials of Mana on Amazon to support us: PS4, Switch.
