Norsefell Games has announced some sweeping changes coming to Tribes of Midgard next week to coincide with the fresh release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Launching August 16th on Xbox and Nintendo, Tribes of Midgard will also kick off its Season 3: Inferno Saga with a revamped Survival Mode that should make the game a little easier for newcomers and old warriors alike.

The developer states that the Survival Mode has been completely rebuilt from the ground up to provide an exciting but also more relaxed experience, taking away the time-sensitive elements so that players can focus on what makes the game so fun: exploration, combat, and construction.

Rather than having a pre-built Village to protect, players will be able to construct their own homes however they like, wherever they like, taking away the need to constantly go back and forth to a predetermined spot. To help the matter, the Construction system has been reworked, refined, and expanded with new decorations, doors, stairs, and many Crafting Stations, all of which can be built anywhere, anytime with the new Allforge, freeing players to explore the world even further. No need to leg it back to base to fix a buggered sword when you can just repair it on the go. Very handy.

In addition to the above, Saga Quests will give some general gameplay guidance if you want it. These act as optional objectives that can be completed for Materials, allowing players to craft better gear, more advanced Crafting Stations, and even a Boat Dock, which will open the world up further by allowing players to sail the seas to new lands full of new adventures, loot, and more challenging enemies.

If all of this sounds like a lot of hard work and much to learn, then worry not as the developers have one more trick up the old leather sleeve - Tutorial Cats. Even for battle-hardened players, the new systems being introduced will take some time to learn. To help all players get to grips with Survival Mode 2.0, Norsefell has added in some tutorials delivered by Freyja's feline friends, Sóleyra and Mániklo, who will provide hints and tips as you run around in your loincloth.

Tribes of Midgard was released last year to positive reviews, though many players and critics alike were quick to point out that the Survival Mode - especially when played solo - was far too difficult and demanding. The Tribes of Midgard Season 3 update should alleviate some of these issues and make for a more enjoyable experience and a more relaxing entry point for the wave of new players coming with the Xbox and Nintendo Switch releases.
