Truant Pixel Unveils Elegant 4K PS4 Theme 'Hanami' to Celebrate Cherry Blossom Season

Getting bored of you background on PlayStation 4? Notable theme developers Truant Pixel have remastered one of my personal favorite themes, Hanami,  improving audio, swapping in 3D assets from static imagery, and adding in detailed effects all around.

Seen below, the theme shows off a collection of cherry blossom trees, set in front of a Japanese castle. Compared to the original Hanami release on PlayStation 4, this remastered version is optimized for 4K and UHD sets (looking at you, PlayStation 4 Pro owners). Beyond that, the new Hanami theme adds improvements that is appreciated on either console — random flurries of cherry blossoms, shifting clouds, starlight, and fireflies help set the scene far more effectively than before.

The new Hanami theme will be available in both the US and EU on April 4, 2017 for $2.99.

Developer Truant Pixel has been up to their eyeballs lately in work — after working on both The Flame in the Flood and What Remains of Edith Finch’s dynamic themes, they are finding time to work on their otome game Akash: Path of the Five. Check out DualShockers interview with Truant Pixel where we went in-depth into their transition from theme development to indie games.
