Twitch Plays Pokemon Completes All Generations of Pokemon

August 5, 2014

Though the fervor may have died down a bit following the initial playthrough of Pokemon Red, Twitch Plays Pokemon turned out to be one of the most fascinating social experiments around gaming in quite some time, and with this week came to a close (for now) with the completion of its final game.

This week, Twitch Plays Pokemon completed Pokemon X, making it the final game in the series alongside the completion of every generation of Pokemon released so far. Starting with Pokemon Red earlier this year and running through the subsequent generations of Pokemon games afterward, the completion of Pokemon X marks the end of an era for Twitch Plays Pokemon – at least until the release of Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire this November.

After several titles and generations of Pokemon, Twitch Plays Pokemon may be drawing to close, but never forget its major contributions to the gaming community: or, its hilarious generation of memes and bizarre Internet folklore. Praise Helix.
