Twitch has brought in a series of updates to its streaming service to properly identify paid-for content, the company has announced.
Twitch says that for the most part, the current system works fine. However, it notes that at times, issues have cropped up.
Sometimes though, because of a lack of clear best practices and shifting regulatory guidelines, coupled with a sometimes less-than-transparent sponsor relationship, these kinds of campaigns have become a bit of a dark corner in the industry, and that’s bad for everyone.
The idea is for all viewers to know what content has been paid for, and what is spontaneous, Twitch said.
To establish this, Twitch has put into place a series of rules which ensure greater transparency for paid programs.
Channels which stream paid content will now have a “Sponsored” tag, to highlight that the content has been paid for.
