Before its current fiscal year is set to end in March 2020, Ubisoft still had quite a lot of major games that is was planning to release. As of today though, arguably the publisher's three largest impending releases have now all been delayed.

Alongside the release of the company's latest financial report today, Ubisoft announced that it was delaying Watch Dogs LegionGods & Monsters, and Rainbow Six Quarantine to the next fiscal year. All three games were originally planned to release before the end of March 2020, but at the earliest, each could only now release as early as April 1, 2020.

Both Watch Dogs Legion and Gods & Monsters specifically already had release dates of March 3, 2020, and February 25, 2020, respectively, but those dates obviously no longer apply. Rainbow Six Quarantine, on the other hand, was set to release in the fiscal year but Ubisoft hadn't announced a specific date previously.

"While each of these games already has a strong identity and high potential, we want our teams to have more development time to ensure that their respective innovations are perfectly implemented so as to deliver optimal experiences for players," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot today of the delays. "This decision will have a very significant impact on our financial results for this fiscal year and goes against our recent successes in building a more stable development model. However, it is in line with our strategy to maximize the future value of our brands for the longterm benefit of our employees, players and shareholders. We expect it to have a positive impact on our financial performance as from 2020-21."

It's a bit jarring to see a publisher delay so many of its forthcoming games all at once, but clearly Ubisoft thinks this is for the better. Hopefully, each game will benefit from a bit more time in the oven as a result.

Ubisoft didn't announce new release dates specifically, but for Gods & Monsters and Watch Dogs Legion both games are said to now launch in the second half of 2020. We should likely hear more about each of these three games more in the future.
