Ubisoft Working on Breath of the Wild Style RPG Codenamed Orpheus
It seems that Ubisoft is trying to recapture the magic of their past RPG forays with a rumored new project codenamed Orpheus.
Ubisoft may be working on a brand new and unannounced IP, according to a tidbit from Kotaku’s Jason Schreier during a now unavailable Kotaku Splitscreen podcast. He stated in a tweet on his official Twitter account that he heard the news ahead of Ubisoft’s E3 2019 presentation on Monday, as well as further clarifying the nature of the leak’s information:
Apologies, folks, I misspoke on this week's Splitscreen E3 extravaganza – the rumored Orpheus project I mentioned is a small-scoped RPG, not an action-adventure. The Breath of the Wild comparison is art style, not gameplay!Advertisement

According to said rumors, Ubisoft’s experiments in RPGs have led to a “small-scoped” RPG title known as Orpheus. The project’s art style is said to be comparable to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, although gameplay will allegedly be on a much smaller scale.
This isn’t Ubisoft’s first foray into RPGs, as we’ve seen from the recent Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which took plenty of inspiration from CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3. There’s also Child of Light, which is most likely what’s closest to this mysterious Orpheus in terms of size and style.
Although normally codenames are unrelated to the actual game’s content, Orpheus might hold a clue as to what the RPG might be about. In Greek mythology, the major stories about Orpheus are centered on his ability to charm all living things and even stones with his music (the usual scene in Orpheus mosaics), his attempt to retrieve his wife Eurydice from the underworld, and his death at the hands of those who could not hear his divine music.
Ubisoft teased quite a few surprises for E3. During a recent financial call, the publisher announced that it had multiple unannounced projects in the works that will be released before the end of this current fiscal year. According to a recent leak, one of those potential games slated to arrive could be that of Roller Champions. In addition, a recent leak has been confirmed in the form of Watch Dogs Legion.
Titles such as Ghost Recon Breakpoint, The Division 2, For Honor, and Rainbow Six Siege have previously been mentioned to be present at the show.
