Today at Ubisoft's E3 press conference in California, the company announced that it is partnering with the film production company Spectrevision, and actor Elijah Wood, to bring a mysterious and unique VR experience to the world.

Called Transference, this experience is aimed at bridging the gap between movies and games. Details about the title are scarce, but it has been described as a puzzle game that thrusts you into the home of a fractured family. Throughout the game players will have to navigate the home, and collect clues about the family's history. The team at Spectrevision says it wants you to be terrified by the game, even when you have your headset off.

You can check out an official description of the game, straight from Ubisoft and Spectrevision, below:

FEEL THE PRESENCE OF CORRUPTED MEMORIES THROUGH VR

For the best immersive experience, we welcome you to join the test case and experience the unsettling creation of a deranged mind through VR. The game offers full interactivity for touch control on all VR platforms through PlayStation® Move, Oculus Touch and HTC Vive Controller. Match your VR playstyle with customizable input controls on every platform. The game is also fully playable on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

“The game is a thrilling mixture of both our experience in story-telling and Ubisoft’s unparalleled skill at crafting deeply immersive worlds,” said Elijah Wood, Creative Director, SpectreVision. “We jumped at the chance of working in VR with Ubisoft and we believe we have a beautiful and haunting game that will really resonate with players, even after they’ve taken off their headset.”

“The opportunity to work with SpectreVision to create a game with rich characters and an intimate yet multi-branching narrative was impossible to pass up,” said Caroline Martin, Executive Director, FunHouse, Ubisoft Montreal. “Transference gave us the unique opportunity to create an incredibly immersive game with full interactivity, touch controls and an engrossing narrative that players will unravel. We strive to push the boundaries of VR games and can’t wait for players to get hands on with Transference.”

The film studio also released two new trailers for the game; an announcement trailer, as well as an interview with Elijah Wood and the other members of Spectrevision. You can check them both out at the end of this article.

The film company says the title will be available on PS4, PSVR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Xbox One, and PC, and will be available sometime in the Spring of 2018.
