UK Weekly Sales Chart: Forza Motorsport 7 Sales Down; FIFA 18 Once Again No.1

Tony Pulis and West Brom hold off Forza Motorsport 7 to remain king of the UK sales chart, while the latter suffers a decline in week one sales compared to previous years.

The 40th week of the UK weekly sales chart is in, and just like last week, EA is top-dog, courtesy of FIFA 18.

FIFA 18’s week two sales were notably stronger than last year, in part thanks to FIFA 17’s week two release coinciding with Take 2’s biggest new release last year: Mafia III, the 8th biggest week-one seller in 2016. Nonetheless the circumstances, it’s good news for the soccer (football) sim, that despite racking up an impressive 1.6 million concurrent players in its opening weekend,  suffered a decline in week one sales compared to last year.

Speaking of a decline, let’s talk Forza Motorsport 7, which failed to dethrone FIFA 18, and had weaker first week sales that the series has had in recent years. However, this decline is partially made up by the fact that Forza Horizon 3 is still selling quite well, coming in at No.3, thanks to an ongoing Xbox One S bundle. The last three Forza games have notably all debuted at No.2, never managing to grab the No.1 spot.

Rounding out the Top Five is Destiny 2 at No.4 and the ever-present Grand Theft Auto V at No.5.

The following new releases placed in the Top 40: The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game at No.7, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga at No.19, Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy at No.31, and Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen HD at No.39.

Below, you can check out the full Top 40 for Week 40 2017 (the week ended on October 7). As always, it’s important to note that the following chart is inclusive to retail sales in the UK, and thus does not feature digital sales of any kind.
