Ultra Instinct Goku is Dragon Ball FighterZ's Newest Character
Ultra Instinct Goku is the second character in FighterZ Pass 3, and will be available May 22
Dragon Ball FighterZ is all about seemingly overpowered characters. Its recent additions of Kefla and Broly a la Dragon Ball Super are testaments to that. But the upcoming addition to the game pushes power levels even further beyond with Goku in his Ultra Instinct Form.
If you’re unfamiliar with this latest and greatest form, it made its debut in Dragon Ball Super. The form is a manifestation of the separation between a fighter’s body and conscience, letting the former act with complete independence from the latter. In plain English, it means the body can act on pure reflex and natural instinct without any thought. The form changes Goku’s hair and eyes from their usual black to a steely grey, while wisps of Ki float around him.
Alright, that’s enough, I’m done explaining things like a character in a Shonen. In the game, Ultra Instinct Goku seems like a more defensively themed character. Besides the usual staples of inhuman speed and power that the game’s cast sports, this form of Goku’s comes with some interesting movement and counter options. Specifically, Goku can tap into his instincts to shift himself behind an enemy as they attack, allowing him to quickly turn the tables on an opponent. Since it’s only a trailer, we obviously don’t know what inputs have to be done to perform this counter, or if it costs any meter. What’s certain is that this move is Ultra Instinct Goku’s gimmick.
If the trailer has your interest piqued, you’ll be able to play as Goku’s latest form in the near future – May 22. If you picked up FighterZ Pass 3 you won’t have anything to worry about except the wait. We’re also far from the end of new characters in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Ultra Instinct was only the second character in the pack, with three more to come in the near future.
