Ultra Instinct Shaggy is in Warner Bros.' MultiVersus - Just Who Is He?

November 18, 2021

Warner Bros. released a first look at the roster of their upcoming fighting game MultiVersus, unexpectedly featuring Ultra Instinct Shaggy.

The official announcement displayed new looks at the free-to-play MultiVersus, which brings characters from a variety of Warner Bros.’ universes.

Players will finally be able to jump into battle as Bugs Bunny, Jake the Dog, and DC’s Harley Quinn. Fans, though, were surprised to see one particularly unexpected character.

That character is Shaggy – who at first might not be all that surprising. However, the new MultiVersus announcement reveals he is extremely Ultra Instinct Shaggy-like. So just who is Ultra Instinct Shaggy?

WHO IS ULTRA INSTINCT SHAGGY?

Ultra Instinct Shaggy was first created for an Ultra Instinct Remix video, posted by YouTuber Midya in late 2017. These remixes usually featured characters undergoing an “ultra instinct” transformation, similar to Goku’s transformation in Dragon Ball Super.

Though Midya’s original video was deleted, the remix has since been reuploaded by user ultra instinct vale. Eventually, the ultra-powerful character grew a fandom online. An endless number of Ultra Instinct Shaggy memes and fan art spread across the internet, with DeviantArtist MielSibel10032002’s fan art getting particular traction online.

Though, the character couldn’t be any different from the original Scooby-Doo investigator. With a superiority complex backed by god-like powers, Ultra Instinct Shaggy lacked all the cowardice that made the original so charming.

Further, it was this wild contrast that made the memes take off. As a result, fans online argued whether or not their favorite character could defeat Ultra Instinct Shaggy in battle. (The answer? Most often “No.”)

After memes of Ultra Instinct Shaggy’s powers spread, Woken News Network created a petition “Make Shaggy A DLC In Mortal Kombat 11”. Following its creation, the pro-Shaggy petition currently has nearly 400,000 signatures.

Incredibly enough, Warner Bros. actually gave him a cameo in the 2021 Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms intro. In the video, a glowing green Shaggy grabs and pulls Scorpion off-screen, perhaps in a display of his own power over the Mortal Kombat fighter.

SHAGGY IN MULTIVERSUS

All other memes aside, it seems that now Ultra Instinct Shaggy will make his true debut in the WB universe. As one of many fighters revealed earlier, Shaggy can be seen bursting into flame – not unlike Ultra Instinct Shaggy himself.

His full powers and abilities have yet to be revealed, but the inclusion of the meme only adds to the game’s charm and fun. Honestly, it’s both strange and hilarious to see Shaggy battle (and win?) against heroes like Superman.

All in all, you can expect to fight as Ultra Instinct Shaggy in MultiVersus sometime in 2022. Until then, keep your eyes out for more reveals of other fighters.
