Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's Developers Caution Fans About Spoiler, Promises Big Surprises

With pilfered copies of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End out in the wild, several developers at Naughty Dog took to Twitter to encourage perspective players to avoid spoilers as much possible.
The dance started with Creative Co-Director Neil Druckmann, who promised big surprises coming:
Uncharted 4 is just two weeks away! As we get closer it’ll get harder and harder to control leaks. Stay vigilant. Big surprises in store.

Game Co-Director Bruce Straley also gave his insight:
We work hard to preserve the experience. So when you play, it feels fresh & the beats land properly. Sucks it could be spoiled.

I’d like to recommend media blackout for all #Uncharted4 fans. Unfollow me, turn off your computer, & just wait by the mailbox til May 10! 😉

Trust no one. “@HecklerCS: @bruce_straley Why unfollow you? You’re not going to start tweeting out spoilers, are you? :o”

Dynamics Artist Neilan Naicker also chimed in:
Playing the completed Uncharted 4 as a dev was sometimes frustrating. “Man, I wish I could have seen this without knowing it was coming.”

In some ways, I’m super jealous of anyone who gets to experience every location, every vista, every story beat, without forewarning.

Don’t ruin it for yourself. Don’t ruin it for others. Be cool. In two weeks you’ll get the joy of discovering it for the first time!

Senior sound designer Robert Krekel followed up:
In many ways I can’t wait for games to be all digital. Then there would be no early copies out and less chance at spoilers.
— Robert Krekel (@robkrekel) April 27, 2016
Don’t get me wrong I love that people are excited to play the game. I just don’t want people who don’t yet have it to be spoiled.

Personally, I’d like to encourage our readers not to post spoilers in our comment sections. If you have the game, or have seen it, keep it for yourself. Incidentally, to encourage you to be nice, we won’t be. If anyone posts a spoiler in the comments, and we notice, he or she will be permanently banned without recourse.
Tread carefully.
