If you were wondering if that Uncharted movie was still happening, it turns out it is. Sony Pictures has found someone to direct Tom Holland's take of Nathan Drake after Dan Trachtenberg walked away from the directorial role.

According to Deadline, Travis Knight is now slated to be the Uncharted movie director. Knight's most recent directorial outing was the Transformers spin-off Bumblebee. Starring the likes of Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena, the movie is somewhat seen as a return to form for the robots in disguise as it did well critically.

Not as known but certainly more notable, his debut as a director was Kubo and the Two Strings. The stop-motion animated film produced by Laika received two Academy Award nominations; one for Best Animated Feature and another for Best Visual Effects. However, Zootopia and The Jungle Book received those awards respectively. Before taking the role as a director, Knight was an animator for a number of films, including Coraline, The BoxTrolls, and ParaNorman.

The Uncharted movie has had a pretty rough time getting things started. Back in late 2018, Shawn Levy left the Director role after his project Free Guy was greenlit by 20th Century Fox. Roughly a month later, 10 Cloverfield Lane's Dan Trachtenberg was slated to take the role as Director. However, just last month, it was reported that Trachtenberg was leaving the project.

Tom Holland will star as the Uncharted movie's protagonist, Nathan Drake. The film is written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Rafe Judkins, and produced by Chuck Roven, Alex Garner, Avi Arad, and Ari Arad. This will also be the first movie under the PlayStation Productions umbrella, which was formed by Asad Quilbash and Carter Swan.

There has yet to be a release date for the film. You can play through the entirety of Nathan Drake's adventure with the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.... Okay, and Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the dead PS Vita.
