Unfortunate Reality: Team Bondi Set to Close its Doors

on October 5, 2011 7:00 PM

Team Bondi – for those who may not know with all the Rockstar promotion around the title – is the actual developer of L.A. Noire, which released earlier this year to a mix of reviews. I happened to find the game pretty decent and rather engaging, something different in a long line of cookie-cutter titles that tend to come out every year.

Unfortunately, the studio has gone through some rough times since then and now is in the process of shutting down. This could be different than the typical mentality of “if a big-budget game fails, shut down the studio” in the west, since there has been a lot of controversy around Team Bondi, including over 100 employees not being listed in the game’s credits and the studio head accused of “mismanagement” of the workforce during the game’s development cycle.

Regardless the reason for the shut down, it’s still unfortunate to see a studio with such promise being closed, and all those game industry employees losing their jobs.
