Universal and Legendary Pictures Announce Cast for Upcoming World of Warcraft Film Adaptation

While it’s still a ways away, the prospects of a full-blown World of Warcraft movie have been a long time coming with the film stuck in development hell for quite some time. But, with the movie now becoming a reality with pre-production in full swing and director Duncan Jones behind the helm, the next step for production: the cast.

The cast line-up for World of Warcraft was announced by Universal and Legendary Pictures for the upcoming film, and the studios have reported to have closed deals for casting with the following actors:

  • Ben Foster (The Messenger, 3:10 to Yuma)
  • Travis Fimmel (Vikings)
  • Paula Patton (Baggage Claim, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol)
  • Toby Kebbell (The CouncilorPrince of Persia: The Sands of Time)
  • Rob Kazinsky (Pacific RimTrue Blood)

In addition, the production companies behind the film are also in discussion with Dominic Cooper to star in the film, with negotiations currently still ongoing with the actor.

World of Warcraft is currently set to begin production in January 2014 in Vancouver, with a new release date of March 11th, 2016 from its previously targeted date of December 18th, 2015.
