Unknown 9: Awakening Is the Latest Piece of Reflector’s Ambitious Multimedia Universe
Unknown 9: Awakening is the latest cog in Reflector's ambitious "storyworld" project. The next-gen game looks beautiful and boasts an intriguing premise.
Today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live was filled with tons of trailers, announcements, and Doc Brown sightings. One of those trailers was the first look at a new game from Reflector set in their multimedia Unknown 9 universe. The franchise already has comics, books, and novels. Why not throw a next-gen game into the mix. Give the teaser trailer a watch below.
The Unknown 9: Awakening trailer doesn’t reveal much about the game. We see a young girl with mysterious abilities. Obviously, we won’t know for sure until we see more, but it appears she can go into some kind of shadow realm. There, she’s seemingly invulnerable to attackers. It’s hard to say for sure based on the footage, but I’m intrigued to learn more.
Personally, I’m not very versed in the Unknown 9 universe. So, everything mentioned above might already be known by fans of the series. That said, Awakening looks great in these cutscenes and the story has me wanting to know more. I’m not sure if I’ll be jumping into all of the other media in the franchise, but I’ll be keeping an eye on the game.
Plus, it’s worth acknowledging the ambition of the project. Putting all of this stuff together for a brand new IP is pretty impressive. Here’s hoping they deliver with a quality product.
Unknown 9: Awakening doesn’t have a release window but will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X when it’s ready. Be sure to check out the team’s site if you’re interested in finding out more about the universe.
