This year’s very musical Pokemon GO Fest is now starting to kick off around the globe and it’s set to be a banger.

Niantic has put together loads of activities for players to get involved in over the two-day window, with tons of exciting Pokemon available in the game.

One of these Pokemon is the ultra-elusive Unown, which will be available in both its F and G forms.

But can Unown F and G be shiny, and how can you find and catch them during GO Fest? Here’s everything you need to know.

Can Unown F and G Be Shiny at This Year’s Pokemon GO Fest?

So, Shiny Unown G was actually released during last year’s GO Fest celebrations alongside Shiny Unown O.

This year, however, Unown O won’t be making an appearance and has been replaced by Unown F. Thankfully, Niantic has confirmed that “Shiny Unown F will be making [its] Pokémon GO debut during the event!”

How can you Nab Yourself One?

As always, there’s no guarantee of ever getting any Shiny Pokemon, however, you’ll never have a better chance than at GO Fest due to increased spawns/odds.

It should be noted, the only way you’re able to encounter Unown at this year’s event is by purchasing a ticket – free players unfortunately won’t have the luxury.

Unown will appear at all four of the habitats during the event – Jungle, Desert Mountain, Ocean Beach and Cave – however, it will only be appearing when you have an incense live.

So in short, to give yourself the best chance of getting a Shiny Unown, you need to:

  • Buy a GO Fest Ticket for $5 (or equivalent)
  • Use Incense
  • Click every single Unown that pops up
