With Windows 8 coming soon, it’d almost make sense for Microsoft to do something as lame as calling the new console Xbox 8 to emphasize the growing ties between PC and Console. What may be even more interesting then the name though is the confirmation that Unreal Engine 4 is already up and running on it. Microsoft has denied that there will be a console reveal at E3 this year, but hopefully we’ll know more soon.
Meanwhile, Epic Games Vice President Mark Rein was at the DICE summit saying that they’ve already got Unreal Engine 4 going on the new console, which they can’t name. If Epic Games has a fully working prototype then hopefully a full reveal of the console can’t be too far away.
