Untitled Goose Game is one of the funniest and weirdest releases of 2019. This is mainly because it lets players take control of a goose and the lives of everyone around them miserable while completing various objectives. That being said, the odd nature of House House and Panic's odd game can be traced all the way back to its title. This premise and wonderfully incomplete title made Untitled Goose Game stick out upon its reveal and led to it being one of the most hyped up indie games of 2019. While its title is part of its charm, IGN did learn that House House did originally plan to name Untitled Goose Game.

"We really did intend to come up with something! We’d always just called it ‘goose game’ internally, but when we had to upload footage of it for a festival, we wanted to make it clear that wasn’t the final name, so we put it up as Untitled Goose Game. We didn’t intend for that to be the name of the game, but it really stuck, and we never found anything we liked more," Stuart Gillespie-Cook revealed to IGN before shooting off a bunch of fan-recommended titles. "We’ve had too many suggestions [from] fans over the years: Metal Goose Solid, Honkers Gone Bonkers, Goose on the Loose, Wild Goose Chase, Duck Duck Goose, etc,”

Despite all of the great puns that would have also worked well as a game title, only one seems to have been seriously considered by Gillespie-Cook and the rest of House House. "The only title we ever even remotely considered was ‘Some Like it Honk,’ because we thought it was funny, but I don’t think [we] ever seriously considered using it. Untitled Goose Game just has such a nice ring to it." Some Like it Honk is a great title, but I'm happy that we live in the universe where its name stayed Untitled Goose Game.
