Aquaplus announced via Famitsu a new Utawarerumono game, Dokapon Up! Mugen no Roulette. This is a crossover between the Dokapon series, boardgames with RPG elements, and Aquaplus' flaghship series. Dokapon Up! Mugen no Roulette will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on December 10, 2020.

Dokapon Up! Mugen no Roulette will be a comedy-focused entry with multiple iconic Utawarerumono characters making an appearance, facing off each other, and sharing banter. The cast revealed so far includes Hakuoro, Eruru, Haku, Kuon, Anju, and a bunch of others. The Japanese way of writing the game's title is read as "mugen" but is written with the kanji for "dream" (夢幻), further hinting this is the type of game where you shouldn't worry too much about the story not making sense and whether it's canon or not.

The Dokapon series has been ongoing since the Super Nintendo era, and some of its games actually left Japan as well. The series always mixes board game with RPG elements, dungeon crawler elements, etc.

Dokapon Up! Mugen no Roulette will also be the first time we'll get to hear which seiyuu will be replacing Keiji Fujiwara for Haku. Keiji Fujiwara sadly passed away from cancer in April 2020. Haku's new seiyuu is listed in Famitsu magazine, so we'll know who it is when the magazine launches later this week.

Another iconic personality tied with the Utawarerumono series, composer Michio Kinugasa, also passed away recently.

A trailer and more information will probably release alongside Famitsu magazine later this week. For now, Aquaplus Official Twitter only retweeted Famitsu's announcement.

Dokapon Up! Mugen no Roulette is one of the "multiple Utawarerumono console games in development" Aquaplus has been teasing following the launch of mobile game Utawarerumono Lost Flag in Japan. This means more games are coming. Seeing this one will be out in December, it's likely what comes next won't be revealed till 2021.

The second and third Utawarerumono main games, Mask of Deception, and Mask of Truth, are available in English. You've also got the remake of the first game, Utawarerumono Prelude to The Fallen, and the action RPG spinoff Utawarerumono Zan.
