Today Aquaplus released the first screenshot of Utawarerumono Zan, an action-JRPG based on the popular Utawarerumono JRPG franchise.

The game is being co-developed by Tamsoft, and the trailer shows the very first action gameplay, which looks rather spiffy.

One thing is for sure:  Utawarerumono Zan loks like a giant evolution for the franchise, that so far has been mostly focused on a mix of traditional tactical JRPG gameplay and visual novel. It'll be interesting if it'll manage to become more mainstream with this game.

We also learn that the Japanese release date will be on September 27th, with pre-orders open starting today.

A collector's edition will be available including an acrylic character plate, an art book, and the original Soundtrack CD, and as a bonus, we also get the key artwork.

You can enjoy both the trailer and the artwork below. If you want to see more, you can also check out the original reveal.

Utawarerumono Zan has been announced only for PS4.
