Earlier today, the next iteration of the Oculus VR headset, known as Oculus Quest, was revealed by Facebook and Oculus.

Following the standalone VR headset's reveal and its launch window of 2019 being announced, Industrial Light and Magic revealed one of the new games coming to the platform and it involves one of the biggest fictional properties on the planet -- Star Wars. Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series was announced by ILM alongside a new trailer.

Vader Immortal will be a standalone storyline featuring Darth Vader that takes place between Episodes III and IV within the Star Wars saga and will take players to Vader's castle on the planet Mustafar, which is a location seen in the standalone film Rogue One. This series will launch in 2019 for the new Oculus Quest headset and will release in three parts. It's uncertain if all three episodes will release in 2019 at this time, however.

This definitely seems to be a heavy-hitter for Oculus and should surely sell a few more Quest headsets that originally anticipated. There's still a lot to learn about Vader Immortal, but the simple thought of seeing Darth Vader in a VR space is enough to intrigue me on its own merits.

You can check out the reveal trailer for Vader Immortal below if you'd like to get a better idea of what to expect from Episode I.
