Valhalla Games is Utilizing Relic Technology for Devil's Third

September 16, 2011

Itagaki has revealed that he and his team are using a variation of Relic’s game engine to create the studios debut game Devil’s Third. This most likely became a possibility after Valhalla Games fell under the THQ umbrella. Relic is most famous for the Warhammer series of strategy and shooting games.

Itagaki has said that his team is editing the engine specifically for use in their game, making use of any middleware they choose. In addition to this technology, Itagaki is happy to have joined with THQ because they can transcend the language barrier easily thanks to developer of the WWE games, Yuke:

“THQ, since they’re making games with Yuke’s, they have a lot of people who speak Japanese”

Itagaki also noted that THQ’s EVP of core games Danny Bilson would be working on the story sequences in Devil’s Third, with the story itself being created by Itagaki and his team personally. These very welcome tidbits of information are all we’ve seen from Devil’s Third in quite a while. Stay tuned for information on the game as it becomes available.
