Valheim's highly anticipated update has finally been released, and fans are eagerly looking forward to trying it out.
Valheim was one of the dark horses of this year, with the game selling millions of copies in less than a month. While the game has witnessed a drop in popularity in the past few weeks, a large number of players were waiting for the Heart and Home update to drop.

While this is the biggest update for the game and pretty much an expansion, the good news is that it is available for free players who own the game. The update is adding some significant stuff to the game, ranging from weapons, to food items and much more. There are some interesting changes to the game's mechanics as well, with weapon rebalances and more.
How to get Crystal Shards and craft Battle-axe?
Crystal shards have been available in the game since launch itself. However, there were pretty much a useless item as had no use, literally. It was expected that the item will be put into use in some future update, and that update is the Heart and Home update.
To get Crystal Shards you need to head over to the mountains. This item is only dropped by Stone Golems so you need to take one down in order to get Crystal Shards. While this sounds quite straightforward, defeating the Stone Golems itself might be a bit of a problem. They are quite difficult to defeat, so make sure you are carrying the right gear.
Once you have the crystals, you might be wondering what they are used for. Well, these shards can be used to craft the Crystal Battle-axe, the latest weapon in Valheim. For crafting the Crystal Battle-axe you need the following items.
- Crystal x10
- Ancient bark x40
- Silver x30
- A level 3 forge
