Today, Sega released new assets on the official site of its upcoming strategy JRPG Senjou no Valkyria 4: Eastern Front, or Valkyria Chronicles 4 in the west.

First of all, we get an introduction to the situation of the world and the main character at the beginning of the game:

The stage is the fictional Europan continent, which refers to the western region of the largest landmass located in the northern emisphere. From ancient times, many conflicts have been fought here for supremacy or unification.

In the 1,800s, the continent of Europa was divided in two between western and eastern powers. A federal republic called “Allied Atlantic Federation” against the alliance of nations of the “Eastern Europan Empire” which was governed with an Emperor a the center after the abolition of royal sovereignty.

Eventually, the two blocks entered in conflict over the mineral resource named “Ragnite.”

In the year 1935, the situation of the world has grown tense, and the Imperial Army broke the non-aggression treaty, starting an advance on the Federation.

The greatest war in history, named the “Second Europan War” broke out, involving the whole continent of Europa.

Claude, who participates in the war as the captain of Squad E of the Federal Army, takes part in the first battle, which is a hard-fought victory.

However, three months after the beginning of the war, the Federal Army has repeatedly lost several battles against the overwhelming numbers of the Imperial Army. The situation is dire.

After a battle, Claude returns to his base camp, and his superiors tell him that a large-scale strategy has been activated. It was a major counter-attack strategy based on a raid on the Empire’s capital to overturn the inferiority of the Federation: “Operation Northern Cross.”

We also get direct feed artwork of  Raz and Kai Schulen, which you can find in the gallery at the bottom of the post.

Raz is a Sergeant of Squad E of the 32nd Armored Ranger Batallion, 1st Battle Brigade, 101st Division, Edinburgh Army. He is aggressive and short-tempered Darcsen, often speaking with a rough tone. Yet, he is a toughtful person who tends to be misunderstood by people due to his clumsiness.

Kai is a Sergeant of Squad E of the 32nd Armored Ranger Batallion, 1st Battle Brigade, 101st Division, Edinburgh Army. She is also a sniper. While she is Riley Miller’s childhood friend, she is usually quiet and unreadable. Among her fellow soldier, she is called “One-Shot Killer” with determined eyes that never abandon the target.

On top of this all, we also get a clean version of the story trailer, without the intro dedicated to the developers that was released last week.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be released both in North America and Europe for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, and will come in 2018. In Japan, it will launch for PS4 on March 21st and for Nintendo Switch later in Summer 2018.
