When Sega announced that the original Valkyria Chronicles would come to Nintendo Switch, they mentioned that it would come nearly at the same time as Valkyria Chronicles 4.

Turns out that "nearly" has gone the way of the proverbial dodo, as today's issue of Weekly Famitsu revealed the Japanese release date of both the port of the original game and the fourth chapter of the saga for Switch and it's the day, on September 27th, 2018.

This is actually a couple of days after the launch of Valkyria Chronicles 4 in the west for all platforms on September 25th, and it's a great chance for Japanese gamers on Switch to enjoy both the latest game and the one that started the legend at the same time. The deal is even sweeter because those who purchase 4 will get a discount voucher to purchase the first game for 500 yen, which is less than five bucks.

Of course, the issue is that Sega still hasn't announced a western release of the Switch version of Valkyria Chronicles for the west. I was expecting them to announce it at E3, but they did not. We'll have to wait and see if the announcement will come down the line, since the first game is a masterpiece absolutely everyone should be able to play.
