As simple as Vampire Survivors' gameplay may initially appear to be, there's a lot going on to the point where in reality, it’s actually difficult. You’re tasked with going up against endless waves of enemies while simultaneously trying to survive for 30 minutes, which can be the longest time span of your life. However, it's 30 minutes of mind-numbing fun.

There are a variety of useful tips and tricks that you can take into every battle which will greatly increase your likelihood of success. Plus, it’ll make things less frustrating on your end and will guarantee enjoyment for any level that you play.

10 Understand Your Enemy

While a majority of the enemies in the game don’t necessarily shoot projectile items, they do move at different speeds. Understanding the difficulty level of each one will prove to be beneficial as you move around the map.

On many occasions, there will be ones that have more health than others and require more hits to take them down. Trying to focus your attacks on them is your best bet as they can really do a number on your health. Once they’re out of the way, you can continue business as usual.

9 Death Isn't The End

In Vampire Survivors, dying is actually encouraged, and you shouldn’t feel bad when it happens. The farther that you go in a run, the more knowledge you learn about the enemies that spawn on the map, and you can better understand the layout as well. After every run, you can see stats on how much damage each item you pick up is doing.

Not only that but you can also go back to the main menu and buy power-ups if needed. As minor as it may be, you’ll notice a difference in gameplay if you do. So don’t be afraid to go back and rethink your strategy for a bit.

8 Spend Those Coins

Speaking of dying, during a play session, you’ll earn a variety of coins through various methods. Don’t be afraid to spend them on power-ups and a boost in abilities as they can only help you out during battle. There are 18 different slots you can spend your money on so go crazy.

The best part about it is that you are able to respec your upgrades allowing you to allot your coins elsewhere if you feel like it's needed. There’s no reason to hold back as you can do this as many times as you need.

7 Always Be On Offense

There’s no need to play defensively in Vampire Survivors. To go even further, there really isn’t a benefit in doing so. As you upgrade your character throughout a session, you’ll find the abilities that you pick up are constantly firing at your enemies to the point where they can’t even touch you.

As each enemy is defeated, it’s important to pick up every XP token you can as they help you level up your items and even get new ones. The last thing you want to happen is to be under-leveled as time goes on.

6 Smash Everything Around You

Destroying items around the map might not seem useful at first glance since they drop little amounts of coin, but they can also get you out of some tight situations. These items can also drop food and other items that will benefit you in combat like the ability to stop time.

Some of them are really game-changing and can easily help you earn more XP than usual. The higher your luck is when you enter a level, the greater your odds of a powerful item coming out will be. You better believe that it’s worth it.

5 Don't Forget About Luck

Speaking of luck, having a high level in this power-up is something that you may want to prioritize early on. Luck in Vampire Survivors controls almost every aspect of your gameplay experience from the type of items that you can get through chests, the enemies that spawn, and much more.

While it’s not a guarantee that it will work with every single run you go on, it's better to give yourself a higher chance for it to upgrade. If you want to find yourself eliminating enemies with one hit, trust me when I say you’ll need this.

4 Find The Right Weapon

Finding the right weapons that work for you is important in making it far on any level that you go through. While there isn’t exactly a definite answer on which weapon you should take with you, there are certain ones that are a must-have.

At the end of the day, it all falls upon player choice through your own experience. As previously mentioned, after every run you are given a breakdown of how much damage a weapon does for you. You can use this to determine if you need to change up your loadout.

3 Weapons Have Evolutions

While we're on the topic of finding the right weapons, you can also make evolved weapons when combining two weapons together. What makes it hard to do this is you can’t specifically choose what weapons to combine as everything is randomly generated.

If you have two weapons that can be combined in your loadout, get them to level 8, and you can create a super weapon that does a massive amount of damage. The higher your luck is, the more likely you’ll get them. Once you do, you’ll feel unstoppable during any run.

2 Keep It Simple At The Start

In terms of what items you should pick when you level up, it’s better to only have three or four weapons, and save the rest on augments that give you more initial damage, protection, or health. The reason being is as if you have a whole arsenal filled with weapons, you’re bound to have one that’s underdeveloped and barely doing any damage.

Having those hard hitters on you will be enough at the start. As time progresses then you can pick up a few more and focus on leveling them up as well. It’s the perfect strategy to have and will guarantee success more times than not.

1 Complete Those Challenges

Completing challenges will unlock not only more characters for you to use, but will grant you a greater arsenal of weapons to use as well. The challenges themselves aren’t that hard to complete, and you’ll find yourself finishing them without even trying. It gives you more variety to choose from during your runs and lets you experiment more.

Not only that but once you unlock the Randomazzo, you’ll then have access to Arcanas which are an absolute game changer. To get it you have to reach level 99 with certain characters, or you can reach 31 minutes on specific stages.
