Back in September, it was unfortunately announced that DONTNOD Entertainment's Vampyr was delayed to Spring 2018. While the news was disappointing, the game is still highly anticipated, and as such, they have since had the chance to tease fans with more exposition behind the studio's creative process.

Today, publisher Focus Home Interactive released the first episode of a four-part webseries focused on the development of Vampyr. This video, titled Episode I: Making Monsters, dives into more information on protagonist Jonathan Reid, a doctor who is turned into a vampire by a mysterious source.

The opening of Vampyr has Reid freshly turned and still trying to understand his condition. It ends up thrusting him unwillingly into a dark society of creatures and nightmares that he will soon become. According to the video's description on YouTube, "Ancient Ekons plot from the shadows, terrifying Vulkods prowl the streets at night, and cursed Skals hide in the darkest places of the city," giving players a closer look at the story that awaits in Vampyr.

Vampyr is set in 1918 London, freshly out of World War I and weakened by the Spanish Flu. It's not just Jonathan Reid who is suffering though, as he must decide who to sacrifice for his hunger and who to save. The action RPG promises consequences for every choice, prompting players to balance their need to feed and grow stronger with Reid's quickly diminishing humanity. Back in June, gameplay and combat were revealed at E3.

Vampyr is set for release in Spring 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For a closer look at the game's protagonist, you can check out the new video below:
